boat motor oil fill -2470

Postby buckeye2 » Mon Jul 11, 2011 9:29 am

I am having a problem when fill the remote oil container. The fill location in on the rear of the boat on the starboard side. I have been using a funnel to get the oil into this oil fill on the side of the boat. It will not take but a very small amount at a time. This is a new to be boat with a 250 ox 66. I did not seem to have this problem last year and can not pinpoint and change that would contribute to this problem. Has anyone had a similar problem and what was the fix. The remote oil container holds about 1.5 gallons of oil. Thanks. Buckeye2

How do you know how much you have used and how low the tank is when you go to fill it? I think it should hold 6 gallons? I use a 12" surgical tube attached to the oil container and mine fills easily. So, you should use about a gallon of oil for every 50 gallons of fuel you burn. In my case about a half gallon for full a day (25 Gal) on the water.. not really that much.

Buckeye - I'm not 100% clear on exactly what you're explaining as your problem here but first question is; is there a screen in your funnel? Maybe something is partially occluding the funnel neck?

The 2470 has a 6 gallon Oil Tank capacity? Is that WA or CC or both?

Sorry for the late responce, the tank is two gallons. I think I solved the problem. There was restriction in the line to the tank going thru a bracket that had the hose in a bad position. Still goes slow but better. Buckeye 2 :flag:
