Few questions/ideas/tips for my 2470 CC Pursuit

Postby Justin M » Fri Mar 12, 2021 1:05 pm

So I know this a long post, but just to give a little bit of background...

I just my first boat that I own by myself the first part of June 2020, so this is going to be my first full season with her. It’s pretty much my dream boat. 2001 2470 CC, and the previous owner had gotten it re-powered in 2014 with ‘14 twin Yamaha 200s. I got very lucky finding it, especially with the shortage of boats 2020 had. I didn’t really have to do too much to it when I picked her up...she’s super clean. This spring I wanted to do a few things, again nothing drastic, but just some minor customizations. Eventually I want to get a new T-Top, new electronics, and a few other things...but for this year I plan to keep it simple.

With that being said, I just have a few questions...or looking for tips or advice anyone can give.

#1: I feel like it’s tough to find normal (cosmetic) parts online. When I looked last summer I couldn’t find much. I haven’t looked this year yet, but wanted to ask you guys first. I want to get a new switch panel along with a few other things that are just cosmetic fixes (they aren’t necessities) but I can’t seem to find parts anywhere. If anyone has any sites that is their go-to for this kinda stuff, please let me know!!

#2: I would also like to get new cushions for the bow. The originals don’t wrap around the whole bench, they are basically just straight cushions, and they are pretty damn thin just because they are worn out. I would also like to get some sort of an attachment for the gap to make it more of a sundeck for my girl and our dogs to lay up there. I think I already know the answer, but has anyone found anywhere I can buy new cushions, and/or an attachment to fill in the gap or will I just have to get them custom made?

#3: This last one is more of just getting your opinion. She’s never been painted and originally I was thinking about it, but I don’t think I’m going to. But I really want to take the stripes off the hull just because they are starting to peel off. You can’t see it from far but I know they are there and it bothers me. I was just going to take them off when I wax her in a few weeks. Does anyone advise against that? I don’t want to do it and have it look like crap after. I can get new ones put on, but I was thinking of just leaving it all white without the stripes and having a little bit larger/more updated (chrome) Pursuit logo put on to replace the current ones?

I know this was a lot to read lol because it was as a crap ton to type, but any input anyone can give would be much appreciated! Not many people in my area have Pursuits, so I figured I’d ask here. Now if it were a Searay, that’s a different story lol. Thanks again for any advice you can give!
