2003 28 walk around fuel tank leaks

Postby Kevin2870 » Sun Mar 26, 2023 11:43 am

Good Morning Ladies and Gents,

Have any of you folks experienced aluminum fuel tank leakage due to corrosion on the 2003 28 Walk Arounds especially when operated in Saltwater?

From what I understand the older 90’s Tiara’s and Pursuits experienced leakage due to the thinner gage .125 aluminum versus the 2000’s .250 gage aluminum tanks just prior to changeover to plastic tanks?

Thanks in Advance for your assistance.

2003 28 walk around fuel tank leaks

Hi Kevin,
I just bought a new to me 2002 Pursuit 2870 and keep her here in Humarock MA last year. Love the boat. I have read several posts on this form about pinhole leaks in aluminum tanks due to corrosion in boats of our vintage. You can find the posts by using the search feature.

No problems on our boat yet. Remedy is to cut the deck out and replace the tanks with fiberglass ones.....not an inexpensive undertaking I'm sure. Good luck my friend.

Rick
