Long Range Fuel for 385 OS

Postby jtsherry » Sun Jun 14, 2020 7:56 pm

Anyone out there with a 385 OS that can school me on getting more mileage for longer trips? I want to fish the Canyons and I'm wondering if other folks are doing it with this boat. Bladders? Props? What's everyone doing to make it work for them?

Thanks!!

What mileage are you trying to accomplish? I figure I can get 270 miles per Full tanks of gas. I have new Sharrow props ordered. They won't deliver til next year, but hoping for some big numbers with them.

I have also heard some talk of putting Merc. Inertia props make larger MPG gains.

I'm getting about 30 mph at 4200 rpm, 39.5 gph. Have talked to someone about props, will probably try that next season. For now, went with a 150 gal bladder. Just went to the Canyons, burned 384 gal for 9hrs of steam time (avg 37.7 gph) , 10 hours of troll (avg 4.5 gph). Even with all the extra weight in fuel/ice/gear, it didn't seem to affect the burn rate too much - 42.5 gph on the run out.

Just wondering how you made out with the Sharrow props. I have a neighbor who put them on his DC35 with twin 300's and loves them. i can't find any performance data for these on the OS385.

Thanks in advance

There is a quick and easy answer. Nizpro tuning for the 4.2L and 5.3L motors. A guaranteed 15% increase in mpg at cruise speeds. We have done almost a dozen Pursuits with twin and triple 300s and twin and triple 5.3L 350s with amazing results. And the cost of the tune is paid off in 1 season for most customers (about 100-125hrs cruising) - Sharrow props do not deliver even a fraction of those mpg gains and cost 5x more than the tune. Email us at nizpro.us@gmail.com for more info. We can connect you with other Pursuit owners to hear from directly.
