removing steering wheel wa2470

I need to remove the steering wheel on a WA2470. In order to do this ,just remove the large nut and then use a steering wheel tool to loosen and remove? Looks to have a key in the shaft and did not want to damage the shaft by not correctly removing. Anyone done this and can advise would be welcome. Thanks. Buckeye2

I have pulled off many steering wheels before. I used a puller after taking off the nut. There is a key and that will be fine when you pull the wheel, just don't lose the key!

Did mine last year, gear puller from auto parts store worked fine. The pics at the beginning of this article will give you an idea of what lies inside of there:

Yes ended up using a gear puller that local parts store just let me borrow. With the correct tool the steering wheel came off with out much effort. Thanks for all the direction. Buckeye2
